Mr. Rui Tian, Clinical Manager at LingYu International Psychology Centre, is a qualifying member and Executive Director (Treasurer) of Ontario Society of Psychotherapists who specializes in mental health and addictions. Mr. Tian has been trained and certified as Solution-Focused Therapist, Addictions and Mental Health therapist, and professional coach. He has practiced in various clinical settings, including the Centre for Addictions and Mental Health (CAMH), Addiction Service for York Region (ASYR), Blue Hills Child and Family Centre, Griffin Centre, and in his private practice. His clinical practices focus on assessment, diagnose, and treatment of mental health and addictions—in individual, couple, family, and group therapies; case management; aftercare, as well as community treatment referrals. He also involved with major local EAP and insurance companies providing brief assessment, consultation, counselling, coaching, and referral services to individuals and families who are struggling with mental health issues, family conflicts, parenting, injuries, traumas, and chronic illnesses.

Mr. Rui Tian conducts his practices with Solution-Focused Brief Therapy, Mindfulness-based  Cognitive Therapy (MBCT) and Family Systems Therapy integrated with but not limited to elements from, Narrative, Gestalt, , Rational Emotive Behaviour Therapy (REBT), Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), Emotional-Focused Therapy (EFT), Play and Filial Therapy, and Dialectical Behavioural Therapy (DBT); Motivational Interview (stages of change), Harm Reduction, Multimodal, Relapse Prevention, and Adlerian approaches. His interests in positive psychology and client-centred, strength-based clinical approaches gave him the niche in working with marginalized and disadvantaged population groups.

Mr. Rui Tian, originally from China 23 years ago, had studied in University of Toronto, Durham College, Yorkville University, and Adler Graduate Professional School.  He had years of experiences of teaching graduate students in a prestigious University before he came to Canada. Through his clinical trainings and practices, he has accumulated with years of experiences and expertise working with clients (more than 7,000 clinical hours) on substances use, problem gambling, sex addiction, and other addictive behaviours; mood, anxiety, psychotic, personality, eating, and impulse-control disorders. Frequently Mr. Tian works with clients with couple/familial, parenting, work stress, cultural or sex identities or transsexual challenges, or serious legal issues (drinking and driving or domestic violence). He has been counselling  people with serious mental and/or physical and developmental  disabilities, history of trauma or injuries coping with their daily stresses and pain and chronic conditions, finding recourses, navigating the systems, and collaborating with other community services.
Mr. Rui Tian’s clients are from all walks of life, people with various sexual orientations, new to the country, and from diverse social/cultural backgrounds and age groups.
